BU Libraries

Modernizing a complex digital ecosystem to better connect library resources, services, spaces, and support

BU Libraries needed a modern digital experience that could better support the increasingly complex ways students, faculty, and researchers interact with library resources and services. The new site creates a more cohesive, accessible, and flexible experience, rethinking content organization and connecting the primary website with LibApps and other library systems. I led the design, UX and technical efforts, collaborating across teams to shape the experience from information architecture and visual design through development, integration, and implementation.

One search, multiple library resources

Created a centralized, configurable search experience that brings together resources across the Libraries’ multiple platforms. The system allows staff to manage search labels, placeholder text, and participating applications without ongoing development support.

Library hours, right where you need them

Integrated real-time hours data throughout the site, giving users an easy way to see when and where library services are available.

Making study spaces easier to find

Created a new experience for discovering and reserving study spaces across campus libraries, connecting users from browsing to booking.

This is very impressive and incredibly user friendly.
